About City Bureau

With local media in crisis in Chicago and across the country, City Bureau has been at the forefront of a movement to reimagine journalism as a public good. Our programs inform, engage and equip people to strengthen local information systems, starting with communities of color on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Since we launched in 2015 we’ve trained more than 100 reporting fellows in community-based reporting; hosted more than 200 free public workshops, trainings, and discussions; and our programs within our Documenters Network have trained more than 1,100 people across the Midwest. Read more about our mission, vision, values and commitment to racial equity here, and see below for examples of our journalism and press coverage of our work.
