Join a virtual workshop series with City Bureau and Grist!
In this workshop, you will create a custom preparedness resource for you and your family, and start to coordinate adaptations of the larger toolkit with others in your area. We’ll hear from Documenters who have lived through extreme weather events and have expertise to share from that experience.
Learn about extreme weather events, how to plan for them, and ways you can streamline and share information in an emergency!
No matter where you live, extreme weather can hit your area and change your life — so it’s increasingly important to be prepared and informed. In this four-session workshop series from Documenters Network and Grist, participants will:
Learn the basics of disaster preparedness and response, including acronyms and agencies to know, how to pack an emergency kit, and what to expect in the days, weeks, and months after an extreme weather event
Work with others in your community to customize Grist’s Disaster 101 toolkit
Create a plan to share your toolkit at a hyperlocal level, as well as brainstorm resources to add, local and federal climate policies that could protect your community and environment, and how to build out a resilience hub
Practice applying your community’s toolkit to other crisis situations, such as ICE raids and pollution events
This is the second workshop in a four-session series with Grist.
