Want to gain a deeper understanding of internalized ideologies and philosophy that ground community organizing practices?

Join us to learn about how Ayesha Jaco, the Executive Director of West Side United, empowers youth and adults through direct service, creative skill development and capacity building. West Side United is a six-hospital collaborative on Chicago’s West Side that is working to improve neighborhood health by addressing inequality in health care, education, economic vitality and the physical environment.

Unpacking Care Through Development is a four-part Public Newsroom series that will examine the practices of community-based organizers and coalitions whose development aspirations derive from genuine care for their communities. Attendees will walk away with step-by-step strategies for community organizing and coalition building, in the face of rampant development. Attendees will also become more informed of the “long game” that must be played as it pertains to community organizing.
