Meet your facilitator:

Thais (they/she) a Mexican American from Chicago with familial roots from lower west side to Little Village dating back to the 1950s. They have always had an interest in photography and the importance of taking and preserving photos.

With the rise of gentrification and the displacement of the Latine community in Chicago, preserving Latine history became even more important to Thais. This led them to found Nuestro Chicago Archive (N.C.A.), a digital archive committed to highlight and preserve Chicago's Latine community specifically through family photos. Through N.C.A. Thais hopes to show the resilience and historical importance of the Latine community in Chicago.

In addition to planning, producing, and promoting N.C.A. events, Thais also DJs under the name Beltrino to share their love for Chicago House music.
