Join City Bureau staff in a conversation with Ald. Matt Martin and ranked choice voting advocates about the electoral process, and help us decide which Chicago pizza ranks first in our hearts — and our taste buds.
Nominate the local pizzeria you think epitomizes what Chicago pizza is all about — tavern-style, thick crust, deep dish, it’s up to you — and we’ll have the top 5 nominees available for you to taste and rank.
We’ll be using a ranked choice voting system, using your rankings to determine a winner. It’s a method that has been picking up traction, not only during the nationally watched New York City mayoral race, but also here in Illinois. Thirteen Chicago alders have voiced support for changing the city’s election system, and organizations such as Reform for Illinois and Common Cause Illinois are advocating for the change to ranked choice voting in municipalities statewide.
