Join us as we celebrate 10 years of Chicago Documenters and reflect on what a decade of showing up, paying attention and documenting local government has taught us about our city.
Over the years, Documenters have covered everything from debates over city budgets to public safety; education reform to housing and so much more. Across these meetings, we’ve seen how decisions are made, how community members make their voices heard and how our city responds to the needs of the people it serves.
Join us at Base Community Cafe in the historic Bridgeport Art Center for a celebration centered on community, connection, and reflection. We'll revisit what we’ve witnessed, share insights from a decade of documenting, and consider what these lessons mean for the communities we live in.
As we look ahead, we’ll also explore what the next chapter of Documenters could look like. Through conversations about new assignment types and innovation across the Documenters Network, we’ll consider how we can expand the ways people engage with local government, make public information more accessible, and help communities put that information to use.
