Join City Bureau for this three-session workshop series that transforms everyday residents, netizens, and Documenters into critically media-literate journalists who can identify reliable sources, analyze bias, and tell local stories that connect to the whole reader.

Session 3: Publishing Local Voices (September 9th from 5-6:30pm CT) Learn how to turn your documentation into stories that reach people. We'll cover story formats like Q&As and explainers, how to pitch to outlets like 15 West, and ways to share what you're seeing on social media.

Participants will gain practical skills to amplify neighborhood voices and hold local institutions accountable through shorter-form community-driven journalism. This interactive workshop series aims to transform Documenters from civic record-keepers into community journalists who can bridge the gap between government proceedings and neighborhood impact! Join us for one or all of the workshops. Participants who attend all three workshops will receive a special badge on Documenters.org.

  • This virtual workshop series will be hosted on Zoom. Any Documenter from any community can join this event—regardless of where you are located or whether you’ve ever attended a training or taken an assignment.
